Liberty’s “Just Frogs” Photography Workshop

Our Weekday Frogs Workshop gives you a chance to photograph some of these fascinating photogenic little creatures close up and personal without glass or wires in the way in our indoor photography area. During this workshop you will have the opportunity to photograph several different species of frogs and amphibians on a variety of props and sets.

This workshop runs from 10.00AM to 12.30PM or 1.30PM to 4PM

The session will start with a quick safety talk and a brief introduction to the lighting system as well as the settings that you will need on the day to get the best results. After this introduction we begin to photograph the animals using our props and set ups. During the day there is always an experienced photographer on hand to give advice and help you make the most of your day.

These days take place at Liberty’s Centre, Crow Lane, Ringwood, Hampshire. BH24 3DZ  (Zoo Licence Number:1009/2)

We provide all the studio flash lighting equipment, stands, backgrounds and standard hot shoe triggers (users of Sony cameras that use the old Minolta Flash fitting will need to bring an adapter) as well as a number of frogs for you to photograph.

What you need to bring: You will need a camera which has a standard flash hot shoe fitting, plenty of memory and batteries for your day. There is a Café selling drinks and snacks available as well as Toilet facilities on site. If you want images of frogs on specific items, such as a specific kind of flower, you will have to supply the flower that you want.

We provide all the studio flash lighting equipment, stands, backgrounds and standard hot shoe triggers (users of Sony cameras that use the old Minolta Flash fitting will need to bring an adapter) as well as a number of frogs for you to photograph.

Recommended Camera Equipment: You will need a DSLR camera, Mirrorless camera, or a high end “bridge” camera that is capable of being set to manual exposure with the ability to control ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed. The camera will also need to be able to accept a standard flash “hot-shoe” fitting flash trigger.

We expect you to know how to change the Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO – If you are unsure of how to set your exposure settings please check your camera manual.

Lenses we recommend are a macro lens around 100mm and a zoom of around 70 – 200 mm. If you are using a zoom lens extension rings may enable you to focus closer in than you would be able to without them.
